When Heaven Stops Hearing Your Battle CryHave we mistaken surviving for battling?

During a session of prayer, I sensed the Lord impress these questions on my heart.  I have highlighted them.   I haven’t been able to shake it. The questions have echoed in my heart ever since.

“How hard do you fight when you fight?
What does that actually look like?
When was the last time you were in one…

Spiritually?”

I had to stop….Not because I didn’t believe spiritual warfare was real.  But because I wasn’t sure I could clearly and honestly, answer the question.

If someone asked you what your spiritual battle looked like this week… could YOU describe it?  And if you can’t specifically articulate that, how can you possibly take the high ground?

Then the questions kept coming.

What is the mountain?…Who is the enemy?

What is the battle?….What are your weapons?

Name them… Could you answer this today?  (Or will you promise to ponder them in prayer…later…today…when you can? Not in theory….Not from memory….But from experience.

Sometimes I wonder if we’ve become so accustomed to living in a spiritual war that we’ve forgotten we’re actually supposed to fight.

We know Satan is real. We know our battle isn’t against flesh and blood. We know Christ has already secured the ultimate victory. Yet somewhere between believing those truths and living them, many of us have quietly laid down our weapons.

Prayer becomes occasional….Scripture becomes optional….Worship becomes routine….Faith becomes passive.
Not no faith.. passive faith.  And could you answer me?  What kind of faith is that?

Then came the question that pierced me most.

“How often are you bringing the fight?”

What does that look like?…Sound like?  Tell me…what your words sound like.
How loud are they?  How desperate are you?
Have you laid yourself down…and picked up the Sword of the Spirit?   You cannot win this in the natural!

Why have you stopped bringing the battle?”

Why have I stopped hearing your cry?
Your battle anthem?
Your voice?”

That wasn’t condemnation….It was an invitation.

God wasn’t asking because He didn’t know where I was.
He was asking if I knew where I was.  (Isn’t that something a father would ask his child?)

Some battles simply cannot be won in the natural. We cannot outwork them, outthink them, or outlast them. Jesus reminded His disciples that some strongholds only come down through prayer and fasting. Victory isn’t always found in doing more. Often it’s found in depending more.

Then another question. “Where is your army?”

That one hit home.  Too many believers are trying to fight alone.  God never intended Moses to hold up his own weary arms. Aaron and Hur stood beside him until the battle was won. Joshua fought in the valley while others interceded on the mountain.

Who are your Aarons?… Who are your Joshuas?
Who knows your battle well enough to pray with you before you’re exhausted… instead of after you’ve collapsed?

The enemy loves isolated Christians.  “But God” builds victorious families.

Finally, the prophecy ended with a familiar command.

“Don’t give up in your desperation.
Don’t grow weary or complacent in the fight.
Stand.
When you have done all else…
Stand.”

Maybe today isn’t about learning a new strategy.  Maybe it’s about picking up the weapons you’ve neglected.  Maybe it’s time to pray like you once prayed.

To worship like you once worshiped.  To call your brothers and sisters into the fight.  To raise your voice once again—not because the battle is easy, but because Jesus has already overcome the world.  And how much power can there be in a person who will not speak it out loud?   Am I speaking to you loud enough right now?

Don’t mistake silence for peace.
Don’t mistake passivity for faith.
And don’t mistake surviving for fighting.

Stand.

Bring the battle “In the Spirit”.  And bring it outloud.  Your words carry the dunamus power of God himself.

The King is with you, and the victory still belongs to Him.  Let’s get on board.  I would like to hear where you are…
please communicate this battle with me…. or someone.

  1. If someone asked you today what spiritual battle you’re actively fighting, could you clearly describe it?
  2. What spiritual weapon have you quietly laid down—prayer, Scripture, worship, fasting, or inviting others to stand with you?
  3. Who are your Aaron and Joshua—the believers who know your battle and are helping hold up your arms until the victory comes?

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” — Ephesians 6:10-11

“What part of this hit home for you this morning? What are you carrying today that needs prayer?  If you’d like, send me a prayer request here. Let’s invite the Holy Spirit in together.  (where two are gathered.) You are not walking alone.  Just hit reply…
I read every response.”
