Where Is Jesus on Your Christmas List? Making Room for the Miracle.
It’s hard to believe how close we are to Christmas. We spend weeks planning, rushing, shopping, and preparing—and then suddenly, the holidays arrive… and almost as quickly, they’re gone.
But right now, in this moment, there’s still time. Time to slow down.
Time to breathe. Time to notice the small,
beautiful things happening all around us that we often miss because we’re moving too fast.
This season is meant to be centered on family, joy, and generosity…
and most importantly, Jesus. As we prepare our homes and our hearts, here are a few gentle ways to
lean into what Christmas is really about.
1. Quiet time.
Take a moment to pause and reflect on all you’re thankful for. In the busyness of finding the “perfect” gift or checking off endless to-do lists, it’s easy to forget to offer praise to the One who is the reason for the season. Even a few quiet minutes can realign your heart and restore your peace.
2. Spend time together.
Have lunch. Grab a coffee. Take a walk. Choose a few meaningful moments with the people you love. It’s okay to say no to some parties or activities so you can say yes to family. We’re often so busy being busy that we forget to truly be present. Making memories that last a lifetime usually requires just one thing—intentionality.
3. Sing.
It may sound simple—or even a little silly—but some of the sweetest moments come from sitting around with family or friends and singing Christmas songs together. Maybe even try caroling on Christmas Eve… Yes, really! But as you sing, listen closely to the words. Let your gratitude to God rise up as worship. Those familiar carols are rich with truth—let them minister to your heart.
4. Celebrate Jesus.
He entered our world in the humblest way imaginable—as a small, helpless baby. His birth is the greatest gift humanity has ever received. Embrace the joy of this season, and ask God to help you truly experience it—not just emotionally, but spiritually—for Christ’s sake.
5. Listen to people.
Rediscover the quiet art of listening. As you gather with loved ones—over meals, during gift exchanges, or while catching up—really hear them. Instead of thinking about what you’ll say next, be fully present. Few things communicate love as clearly as undivided attention.
At the end of the day, it all comes down to focus. We can’t juggle everything at once.
Sometimes we need to set a few things aside, intentionally making room for Christ.
When we do, we receive the peace and love He freely gives…
and then we’re able to give it away.
My prayer is that you do just that… and “make it” a truly Merry Christmas.
