Why are Christians still here?

Why are Christians still here?

God created us, to go to church, commune with the father, and live in this Christian bubble of protection and faith. And if that’s true and if you are doing that, when can we go home to be with Christ? The fact is that is not correct. That is not all he requires.

We are called to be Salt and Light. What does that mean?

13 “You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet.
14 l “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so nthat2 they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven".
This is God’s purpose for each of his children.

What is the essential role of salt in the body?
• Salt plays a crucial role in maintaining human health. It is the main source of sodium and chloride ions in the human diet. Sodium is essential for nerve and muscle function and is involved in the regulation of fluids in the body.
Why do you need salt in your bodies?
• It helps keep food fresh and safe from spoilage. We also need salt. We literally can’t survive without sodium. Salt (a.k.a. sodium chloride) is our chief supply of this mineral, which helps our muscles contract, sends nerve impulses throughout our bodies and regulates fluid balance so we don’t become dehydrated.
What is this metaphor? Salt preserves, and is essential to good health. It keeps food fresh and safe from spoilage, it sends nerve impulses throughout and keeps us from dehydration.

Are you listening? As salt, we as Christians are meant, designed and placed on earth to be an essential part of Gods health plan. To keep the world fresh with the truth of his word, that light sends nerve and truth impulses through out the body of Christ and to the world.

Phil 2:14 "Do all things without grumbling or disputing, 15 that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine pas lights in the world, 16 holding fast to the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that tI did not run in vain or labor in vain. 17 Even if I am to be poured out as a drink offering upon the sacrificial offering of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all. 18 Likewise you also should be glad and rejoice with me".

Again we are called for what? Our purpose is to be blameless children of God…to be lights of his truth in a forsaken world. He said, even if I am poured out as a drink offering… (it is a metaphor of the blood of Jesus spilled at the cross). Some of us may have to suffer for Christ. Perhaps our lives will be a literal pouring out of our blood for Christ. BUT we are to still rejoice and be an example as Christ was an example.

Because we have the greatest of all treasures, Jesus Christ, in this jar of clay, (my body) we are called to rejoice, in all things. Pastor Dale may feel sorrow for the prognosis of cancer, but he is not left to wallow in the cavernous pit of self. Pastor has taken the position and the privilege to cry out to Abba Father in the midst of affliction, just as Jesus did.

2 Corinthians 5:1-12, "For we know that if the tent that is our earthly home is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For in this tent we groan, longing to put on our heavenly dwelling, if indeed by putting it on we may not be found naked. For while we are still in this tent, we groan, being burdened—not that we would be unclothed, but that we would be further clothed, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who has given us the Spirit as a guarantee.
"So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight. Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord. So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil."

Pastor Dale and my 96 year old mom Adele, live a life of light and salt for all to see. Their faith, obedience, along with their praise and worship are for a sovereign lord. Their life is an example of their purpose in being on this earth. To spread the Gospel. To let the world know them by their fruit. To speak out the truth about Jesus and his coming. That is our life work and why we don’t get to go home until he says its time. When we turn away from looking at ourselves and our trials and lift our eyes to the hills where our hope comes from…then I can delight in the Lord in all situations
and give him glory in how I live today.

2 Cor 7:1 "Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and spirit, bringing holiness to completion in the fear of God.
