Why we don’t hear God?

1. We have shut Him out in other areas. When we are unwilling to hear in one area, it may render us unable to hear in other areas. "Selective hearing." Are you hearing me?

Then, After a while, people think they can’t hear from God anymore at all. The trust is, there are lots of things God has already told them… but they are doing nothing.

Why can’t they hear? … They are NOT listening or have stopped listening.
You can’t just talk about what you want or need.

Here is the problem. Mark 4:25 "But for those who are not listening, even what little understanding they have will be taken away". Read that again.
God is taking away your understanding because you are not listening.

2. We are in SIN: Strife, Anger, Rebellion, Pride, a Non-Teachable Spirit, Stress, Overloaded, Blatant Sin, or idolatry. (Spending all your best and most valuable time after work…worshiping something or anything else). All of these blocks you from hearing from God. Repent and get right with God!

All of these breed a Spirit that when we do hear Him, we don’t want to believe, and we try and argue with God!

3.People don’t hear if they have too much to do today.
They are doing a lot of things God never told them to do. – Their too busy. People do a lot of things out of obligation, They do a lot of things out of people-pleasing. They do a lot of things because they’re letting somebody else control them or manipulate them,
OR they care too much about what people think. Start saying NO.

4. We can’t distinguish what voice we are hearing: One of the biggest mistakes that we as believers make is following our own flesh, hearing what we want to hear. We all hear voices in our heads. Is it the devil? Is it God? Is it me? We’re very good at telling ourselves what we want to hear.

If you’re really led to do something, you have to be extra careful when YOU have a strong feeling of yes or no, because we’re always going to hear God tell us "yes" if it’s something we really want to do or "NO" if we really don’t want to do it. (I pray you are listening)

Use your council/ mentors/ spouse to help you weed out these false words?
Practically, I think a lot of times hearing from God is a result of stepping out and getting experience. It’s ALSO being willing to say: " I missed God." Be humble before Men and God. It’s not about YOU.

5. Common Sense:

1. Where does common sense come into play in all this? God is all about common sense. For example, common sense says if you’re already in debt and God has told you to get out of debt,……. then you’re not hearing from God to go out and buy a big car.

2. You know you’re not going to hear from God if you don’t know the Word.
Because God’s not going to tell you to do things that don’t agree with His Word.
AND, you’re not hearing from God if you’re doing things you don’t have peace about.
3. If I’m trying to do something and my wife, and I are in strife about it, then it’s either not the time or it’s not God.
4. You’re not hearing from God to go out and get another charge account, just because something is on sale.
5. You’re not hearing from God if you think you’re supposed to marry somebody else’s spouse.
6. You’re not hearing from God if you’re a believer and you think God is telling you to marry this unbeliever, and how you’re going to rescue them and they’re going to become this great Christian.

I believe part of wisdom is sanctified common sense. And so many Christians don’t use common sense.
