A Letter from God: To My Distracted Child – Part 2

My dearest child,

I am not angry with you… but I am waiting for you.

You say you are busy.
You say life is full.
You say you will come back to Me when things slow down.

But I have watched the hours of your days…
And I have seen where your attention goes.

You have time to scroll,
time to worry,
time to chase what doesn’t satisfy—

But you struggle to sit with Me.

Not because you don’t love Me…
but because your attention has been taken captive.
Yes, I said, captive.

I told you, “Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10).
But stillness feels unfamiliar now.

Long before your world had screens and noise,
I warned My people about this.
“Do not forget Me.”
“Do not turn aside.”
“Fix your eyes.”

Because I know something you are just beginning to see:

What you look at… you will follow.
What you follow… you will become.

You think distraction is small.
You call it normal.
You even laugh about it.

But I see what it is costing you.

It is stealing your peace.
It is weakening your discernment.
It is keeping you from the deeper life I have for you.
How many times must I warn you, before you will listen.

I told you, “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are stayed on You” (Isaiah 26:3).
But your mind has been pulled in many directions… and your peace has been pulled with it.

You are not far from Me because you chose rebellion,
you are distant because you have been slowly pulled away.

One moment at a time.
One distraction at a time.
One divided glance at a time.

Do you remember when your heart was quieter?
When My Word lingered with you?
When you noticed My presence in the ordinary?
When you were not rushing past the very things I placed in front of you?

That life is not gone. But you will not find it in the noise.

Come back.

Not in a grand gesture.
Not in perfection.
Just… come back.

Sit with Me again.
Turn off what is loud.
Step away from what constantly pulls at you.
Open My Word and don’t rush through it.

Stay.

Even when it feels unfamiliar again.
Even when your mind wanders.

Stay.

I am not asking for more of your time. I am asking for your attention.
Because when I have your attention…I have your heart.
And when I have your heart… I can lead your life.

There are people around you who are just as distracted as you are.
They are searching too, but they don’t know where to look.
They are tired, but they do not know why.
I have placed you there…not to be perfect,
but to be present. To be My light.

To listen.
To guide.
To gently point them back to Me.

But you cannot lead them in the middle of all your noise and if you are being led by the same distractions. So again, I say…slow down, My child.  I know you’ve heard my voice!

You are not missing out by turning away from the noise.
You are missing out by staying in it.

There is a deeper life waiting for you.
A clearer mind.
A steadier heart.
A purpose that is not scattered.

But it begins here:

With what you choose to give your attention to.

I have never stopped speaking.

The question is… will you quiet your life enough to hear Me?

Come back.

I am here.

God
