Decide whether your future will be an echo of your past
Isn’t it obvious that God created us for so much more than the American dream? But hundreds of millions of waste their lives in pursuit of worldly trappings because they haven’t discovered the glorious delirious truth… the real reality that: “God‘s steadfast love is better than life” psalms 63:13
They have never gripped the truth that. “to live is Christ and to die is gain” Philippians 1:21 or the incredible biblical promise that; “the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea” Hab 2:14 Somehow they have evaded the truth and the power of the Holy Spirit and have not been awakened to the passion for God’s supremacy in all things for the joy of all people through Jesus Christ. You have heard these truths but are they alive in your life? Or are we too comfortable in the life we have?
We all believe in God and we all believe in heaven. This celestial place where there is no more tears and no more pain. But God called us to something so much higher while we are here. To proclaim his goodness, his love and his glory in the world that doesn’t want anything to do with him at all. I know, that’s uncomfortable isn’t it. When we look at the ministry of Jesus wasn’t, he turning every known tradition upside down? Shaking things up?
Could our prayer for this new year be that Jesus Christ will explode in our lives and unite our fractured dreams and fragmented hearts and produce a single holy, all embracing passion for his name? And there in this passion, you’ll be set free from small dreams and weak visions and that you would lay down your life for the cause of Christ in the world. As Jesus said, “whoever would save his life will lose it but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel for save it” Mark 8:35 Was that truth alive in you last year? You can change that today! If you want.
Igniting a passion to make your life count is only possible by the grace of God. It is true that you must see it to believe it. Let’s begin this year by praying that the Holy Spirit would open our eyes to see what we have never seen before. A devote sister, Sabrina Fair, said to me yesterday that she felt God was being quiet so she would dig deeper to find God’s truths. I think we should begin this year by digging deeper in prayer and digging deeper into God’s word by planting Gods solid foundation beneath our feet. We should build our new year on the standards of his rock of truth and salvation.
Jesus offers us a kind of joy that never ends. You don’t store it up for retirement or weekends. He offers it in the day-to-day struggles of our lives. My New Year’s prayer for you is that you will discover that Jesus himself is the supreme treasure. For Today!
Peter answered Gods call … what kind of high do you think Peter was on when Jesus called him out to walk on the water? That was in the midst of a raging storm.
The truth of that experience is for each of us today. In pursuing God’s glory, we find God’s joy in living in our own storms… when we keep our eyes on the supreme prize of Christ himself.
So, take your gifts… Take your talents and abilities and use them for the purpose God gave them starting today . For His glory. If you’re a musician, then make music, if you’re a singer… sing. If you’re a teacher…teach. Be what you are… use the gifts God gave you for Him and you will be at peace with yourself and God. And you will know the Joy of Serving the greatest treasure. Christ. Don’t follow the comforts of the world. Don’t expect anything new from an echo. BE who God called you to be this year! And then give yourself away for His Glory.
