"Each beginning is the end of a waiting.
Every tree was first a seed that waited" Part 1
We have been talking about Seeds of Life for living and growing an eternal crop. I would like to continue that today.
Did you know that a seed knows how to wait? Most seeds wait for at least a year before starting to grow; a cherry seed can wait for a hundred years with no problem. What exactly each seed is waiting for is known only to that seed. Some unique trigger-combination of temperature-moisture-light and many other things is required to convince a seed to jump off the deep end and take its chance—to take its one and only chance to grow and be alive. But it doesn’t look alive.
I wondered about us as children of God. There is a call on each of our lives but sometimes for years or decades, we don’t know that. We have this seed inside. It’s a God-planted seed. It’s a seed of promise, forgiveness, and redemption and it CANNOT…return void. Are you listening? Some of us have wayward children of varying ages but they have that seed in them. Keep praying for them, believe for them, interceding for them, and do not let go. Be that praying grandmother or father who never let’s go! I pray you believe the scripture that says, “ Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. ‘ (Prov. 22:6.)
That started with a seed from God himself in that boy or girl. Our job is to water it. Prune it, and grow it up in the light and admonition of the Lord. Do you have faith for that…for them? They are waiting for their breakthrough, perhaps like some of you. You are waiting.
My research uncovered that a seed is alive while it waits. “Every acorn on the ground is just as alive as the three-hundred-year-old oak tree that towers over it. Neither the seed nor the old oak is growing; they are both just waiting. Their waiting differs, however, in that the seed is waiting to flourish while the tree is only waiting to die. When you go into a forest you probably tend to look up at the plants that have grown so much taller than you ever could. You probably don’t look down, where just beneath your single footprint sit hundreds of seeds, each one alive and waiting. They hope against hope for an opportunity that will probably never come. More than half of these seeds will die before they feel the trigger that they are waiting for, and during awful years every single one of them will die. All this death hardly matters because the single birch tree towering over you produces at least a quarter of a million new seeds every single year. When you are in the forest, for every tree that you see, there are at least a hundred more trees waiting in the soil, alive and fervently wishing to be”.
What are you hearing in your spirit right now? Could you stop for just 10 seconds and wait for that quiet still voice?
We walk among those acorns on the ground every day. Many have been laying there for years or decades and it may be part of your DNA to be the water that awakens their soul. Or your nudges to put them in a place to be harvested by another. That is a responsibility we were all born with as seeds of God, spreading his love, peace, joy, encouragement, and the knowledge of Christ Jesus our Lord.
That is our seed genealogy. Will you fulfill your purpose?
