Only god can redeem the word wait.
Somewhere between thankful, relieved and glad to be alive is often exhausted, weary, beat up and so tired you just want to quit. Thankful yet wanting this wait to be over.
He is taking waiting deeper. He leads me along the trusting waters of hanging out in his word. Hanging on His promises without regard to your emotions your fatigue and desire to just quit.
Waiting is the space between now and then. He’s teaching me what I can control and what i can’t. What I must relinquish because it’s beyond my control.
It is a real battle of submitting to God’s timing. God’s authority and sovereigness.
Psalm 40:1-3 I waited patiently for the Lord;
he turned to me and heard my cry.
2 He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
out of the mud and mire;
he set my feet on a rock
and gave me a firm place to stand.
3 He put a new song in my mouth,
a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear the Lord
and put their trust in him.
If you’re in God’s waiting room, don’t just sit there! You’ll end up in the pit of despair. Wait actively with God’s word on your lips. Meet a friend, do a Bible study, do something physical. Do not let your emotions run over God’s promises of faith and trust and praise. Focus on his promises in scripture. Put on some praise music, read a devotional. Pray with your brothers and sisters.
Focus on your blessings, not your waiting. Be grateful, not resentful. Focus on praying not complaining. As I try to come back from this Covid pneumonia and the fatigue that seems unending, would you pray with me and my family for one hour as we wait on God in his waiting room? I am not sure how consistent our mornings will be together this week but please know you are all in my prayers.
I pray my 95-year-old Mom comes home tomorrow.
