Fields of Flesh or Fields of Spirit
There are two kinds of fields: flesh and spirit. The field you plant in affects the crop you reap. The seeds you plant produce more of the same.
Fields of flesh: “After beginning in the Spirit, are you now to end in the flesh?” Galatians 3:3. The greatest tragedy possible is to end in the flesh when Jesus died so you could have eternal life with him in the spirit.
What does love in your life look like? And if your life isn’t filled with the love you yearn for, hope for, and dream of then I have a question. Have you given up? Are you the farmer sitting on his porch who forgot to plant his seed and he is watching nothing grow? Have you become so caught up with just living and churning (there are 1,000 reasons) that you have stopped dreaming and believing?
Well Dennis, If I have not been planting any seeds how could I possibly be planting seeds of Fear?
Because Faith and Fear are both seeds of the spirit even though they manifest themselves in physical ways. Faith is a seed of God’s character…meaning the fruit of faith is also from the Holy Spirit. Galatians 5:22-23 Your Faith is God’s gift to you. When you take it in it produces; love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. (Who doesn’t want and need those?)
Fear is the seed of Satan. John 10: 10-29 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy everything good and everything from the Father. He came to steal and tarnish and desecrate your faith! He steals your ability to see the truth and is your only means of salvation. He is a spiritual thief and murderer stealing your hope, your forgiveness, love, peace, and self-control. He leaves you defeated and half a man, without strength and without a vision. He takes away our sight! And leaves you blind to God’s truth.
God’s Holy word warns us; “After beginning in the Spirit, are you now to end in the flesh?” —Galatians 3:3 How sad must it be for those who were made new creations but then end “In the Flesh” Mt 26:24 “It would be better if you never existed” 2 Cor 5:17 how tragic must it be to be trapped in your fallen fleshly nature refusing the newness of a new life Christ died to give you.
Fields of Flesh or Fields of Spirit; It is very unlikely that we will die spiritually in the flesh just moments before we pass this world. Dying in the flesh are those seeds we have been planting for years in rebellion, unbelief, anger, unforgiveness, (that includes not forgiving ourselves), to the Fields of our Flesh. It is a harvest of corruption that we cultivate in the fleshly field of our lives. Sadly we allow others to eat that fruit. (Gal 6:8)
The field of the flesh is our sinful condition or our sinful nature. You see it, feel it, and sadly some place it on the mantel above the Field of the Spirit.
What are you sowing today? Yesterday is gone.
It can no longer dictate what today will be.
Choose you this day who you will serve.
You can make it a new homecoming day.
At Christmas time I just love the song. “I’ll be home for Christmas”. Today can be the start of planting seeds of faith in a new field of the spirit. Hos 8:7 The fields you sow today will determine your harvest for tomorrow. Decide. Fall on your knees to the King of Kings who is been calling you home or calling you to a deeper relationship with him. (His sheep know his voice).
Therefore, “put on the Lord Jesus Christ and make no provision for the desires of the flesh” (Rom 13:14).
Crucify the “flesh with its passions and desires” (Gal 5:24).
“You are not to spend what remains of your earthly life on human desires but on the will of God. You have already devoted too much time to what the pagans enjoy” (1 Pt 4:2-3).
Do not live “at the level of the flesh,” but receive God’s mercy (Eph 2:3-4).
For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. – Galatians 6:8
If you will humble yourself before God…He will not reject you…He will welcome you are one of his own into his home. Be encouraged today. Whatever you are facing do it with Faith and not Fear. It may have been a hard road but it is not your faith that has betrayed you it has been your fear.
