The Christmas Miracle That Keeps Calling
Wow… we get to celebrate another Christmas.
Pause and consider that—not just as a day on the calendar,
but as a personal invitation to rediscover the miracle.
How many miracles go unnoticed?
The baby that shouldn’t have made it.
The reconciliation that wasn’t possible.
The peace in a moment that should’ve broken you.
We are often blind to the sacred that surrounds us—blinded by pace, pressure, or pain. But even now, in the middle of our busy lives, God is whispering: “I came for you.”
So, is there any reason not to see our children, our spouse, our weary selves as a living Christmas miracle—whether it’s June or December?
Christmas is a declaration that love came down and love still leads us today.
Taking the Higher Road — Two Powerful Examples
1. Choosing Grace When Offended
The holidays can stir old wounds. Family tension, misunderstandings, and unresolved history often bubble up. But taking the higher road means choosing grace over retaliation.
It means not having the last word.
It means letting go of your right to be right.
It means not taking up the spirit of offense.
It means, like Jesus, offering peace where it’s undeserved.
“Love keeps no record of wrongs.” – 1 Corinthians 13:5
“A gentle answer turns away wrath…” – Proverbs 15:1
What? You don’t know… THEM!
Practical step:
This Christmas, extend undeserved kindness to someone who hasn’t apologized. Pray first, then make a call or write a note that simply says, “I care about you, and I’m thankful for what God is doing in both of us.”
You don’t have to lose your values to live in victory—you just have to let God fight your battles (Exodus 14:14).
2. Serving Instead of Being Noticed
The world teaches us to get, be seen, and be celebrated. But the higher road of Christmas is about giving quietly, serving humbly, and loving when no one is watching.
“The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve…” – Matthew 20:28
When was the last time you thought about Jesus like THAT!
OK One Practical step:
Pick one person who cannot repay you. Do something completely in secret—a gift card in the mail, a covered bill, an anonymous letter of encouragement, or time spent with someone who’s lonely.
When we walk like Christ, we don’t just reflect His birth—we reflect His heart.
That’s what gives the season its power. And who is the heart of Christmas?
The Deeper Truth of Christmas
Christmas isn’t just a holy event—it’s a sacred PATTERN.
A model for how to live.
How to love.
How to take the higher road. If there was one statement in my life I have tried to live by…This was it!
Because Love Himself came down, we are never without direction.
Wow, Love Came Down…and we wonder why there is a different spirit in the air in December.
One of my favorite scriptures: “He has shown you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” – Micah 6:8
Let This Be Your Resolve
Let the wreath remind you of eternity.
Let the songs remind you of grace.
Let the stillness of a silent night remind you that the Savior still speaks.
Love came down—and it’s still calling.
Still leading.
Still showing you the higher way.
Each of us gets to choose what Christmas means to us.
We get to choose whether we celebrate in the Love of Christ, or Ebenezer Scrooge,
or complaining Curtis, or always stressed-out Sally.
Every day is a choice, but during this season, more people are looking for things that go wrong
because they are wound so tight. Slow down and be a “Fragrance of our Lord”
personified in our daily living, and if possible, in our daily loving.
2 Corinthians 2:14 speaks of the fragrance symbolizing the impact of a believer’s life,
reflecting Christ’s character and love. Do you know that one lady who always smells amazing?
Shouldn’t we have a fragrance that precedes us by the way we live, act, and talk?
Doesn’t it speak of Jesus using believers to spread the Good News of the knowledge of Christ?
How sweet is the aroma of the life we share by living out His love.
Sometimes it is genuinely a Sacrifice of Praise to the one who deserves it the most.
It’s Christmas, let’s carry that fragrance everywhere we go and with every word we speak.
Let it flow like honey….Yes, to everyone. Even our political opponents or the relative who is always prickly.
