The Devil Went Down to Georgia
The liar. He is not just a master liar or deceiver. He has his Ph.D. in distortion, conniving and playing you like Charlie Daniels and the devil went down to Georgia. His deceptions are tailor-made to your soft spots and insecurities. They touch you at the very core of your most vulnerable weaknesses. Then he promises these worldly compromises will ease the pain, fill the hurt and we slowly… overtime…begin to make that compromise … a new truth. A new deepened level of justification sets in. A new elixir to help you tolerate that hole you’re trying to artificially fill. In so doing, Satan has gotten you to question God's standards and truths. You now have this seed that has sprouted because you would not believe God’s blessings were enough to fill that hurt, fill that darkness or hole.
It all began because we challenged the truth of God or just didn’t know it! Can’t you see that?
Satan‘s lies make us question the love of God and trusting in God? Have you ever went 40 days without food or water? Jesus did. Physically Jesus was at his lowest point. He knows temptation!
He fought back with the word of God. The truth of God. The belt of truth.
The flesh is always looking for an excuse to fall off the wagon. Go over the edge. Why? Because I deserve it. It is my birthday, anniversary… I want to have fun…Just this once… Sound familiar?
Once a weed gets a root, it keeps growing. Once you open the door, the dog gets out, the demons pick up steam and our commitments and recent good history go out the window. Here is the other shoe;
because we are walking alone or with wrong friends, we fall hard.
God says to walk don’t run away from those types of temptations. But in our mind, it’s just this once. I am strong enough. I just NEED to have some fun. So, what is the filter of your life?
If your want-to’s are stronger than your faith filter, you’re probably walking into serious trouble.
You may have a bigger problem than you realize. At these moments, will you honor God, or is this just one of your prodigal nights? STOP… with God all things are possible!
Lord open my heart to your word. Your truth. Lord make your word living and active in my life. Lord help me know no truth but yours. Change my thinking when i read your word! Together Lord… WE WIN!
