Days Devotion

The Silent Killer of Peace

Have you ever been afraid of fear itself?  A college student called the other day, broken down on what would happen IF they failed this class.  They studied hard.  Prepared.  But felt the professor had thrown things at them in a different manner and style, and they were afraid they might fail.
Fear had taken over.  Peace is on trial.

I remember years ago, during the Y2K scare, people were stocking up on food, gas, cash, and generators. The world was convinced that when the clock struck midnight, everything would collapse.
Fear spread faster than the truth ever could.
But when midnight came and the lights stayed on, something hit me: most of us weren’t afraid of what would happen—we were afraid of what might happen.
That’s what fear does—it steals reality from us.

The Power and Trap of Fear

Fear is powerful. It’s been used to control, manipulate, and divide since the beginning of time.
If you can make people afraid, you can get them to do almost anything. Politicians, advertisers, even the enemy of your soul know that.

But fear doesn’t just control nations—it controls hearts.
How many “what ifs” have caused you to cave emotionally?
What if I fail?
What if I lose everything?
What if I’m not enough?

That’s why the Bible says in 2 Timothy 1:7, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” God doesn’t want fear to dictate your life. Fear is a thief—it steals peace, confidence, and faith.

The Real Battle

All of life is a battle for peace.
The fight for prosperity, success, comfort—all of it, deep down—is really the battle for peace.
We chase prosperity thinking it will bring peace, but peace doesn’t come from possessions or popularity.

John 14:27 reminds us,
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives.
Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

Peace isn’t found around us—it’s found within us, through the presence of Christ.

A Champion of Faith – Is that You?

The world doesn’t need another hero—it needs champions of faith.
Men and women who will stand when everyone else runs.
Who live by integrity, honesty, and the simple values of our grandparents—
A handshake that means something.
A promise that stands.
A person whose word is his bond.

When Paul said in Ephesians 6:13, “After you have done everything, to stand,”
he was calling us to that kind of faith—faith that doesn’t flinch when fear comes knocking.

We don’t need louder people—we need steadier ones.
We need believers who carry a glow of quiet confidence, who don’t panic when the world shakes because their peace isn’t in the world—it’s in Christ.

So tonight, ask yourself:
Am I feeding my fears or fighting for peace?
Am I reacting to the noise around me or responding to the voice within me—the voice of the Shepherd who said, “My peace I give to you”?

Fear says, “What if?”
Faith says, “Even if.”

Even if the storm comes, I will not fear.
Even if the outcome isn’t what I wanted, I will trust.
Because peace is not the absence of problems—it’s the presence of God.
Peace is Faith’s Final Stand.  It isn’t found…It’s Chosen.

Father,
Teach us to stand in the middle of the storm without trembling.
Remind us that perfect love casts out fear, and that You are that perfect love.
Let Your peace guard our hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Make us champions of faith—men and women who stand firm, love deeply, and shine Your calm in a world overcome by fear.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
