“The Battle I Didn’t Ask For, The God Who Showed Up

Finances and health have been particular challenges over the past 18 months, and the pressure has created some real concerns. I have faithfully held to my faith and guarded both my heart and my mouth. But this morning, I heard a serious word from our Father. I know all things are common to man—
and I am surely not alone—so let’s listen together:

Prophecy: “You may not feel you need the battle you’re in. But I have a purpose and a plan.
Don’t grow weary in your faith.
Don’t let discouragement dismantle your courage to stand in My light during this time.
Others are watching—your life is a prism of My light shining for the world to see.
I am in the middle of it all—praise Me, in season and out.
Let your faith grow in the face of adversity.
Don’t miss the opportunity to praise Me in your pain.
Because you will learn obedience through what you suffer—just like Jesus did.
So, turn your eyes upon Jesus.
The Word and Spirit are your weapon and the Rock that will keep the floodwaters from overtaking you.
I love you… And I’ve got this.”

When we are crying out for deliverance, “learning obedience” is not the word I was looking for. Now? Really, Lord? Enough is enough! But He reminds me: “My ways are not your ways.”

Honestly, I have been standing resolutely on God’s word that June will be a month of restoration. I proclaim and pray for it daily—as many of you have seen at the end of each of my devotionals.

This Sunday, I prayed with Anthony and Jennifer at the altar. Last Tuesday, Anthony was diagnosed with Stage Four Pancreatic Cancer. This Tuesday, they’ll determine a treatment plan. He’s a true man of faith—he beat colon cancer a few years ago by the grace of God—and though this was unexpected, he hasn’t flinched in his faith.

A Season Like No Other – Yet Not Without Purpose

Ecclesiastes 3:2 says, “A time to be born and a time to die; a time to plant and a time to uproot.” Life is filled with seasons—some joyful, others deeply painful. But even when trouble visits, we pray to the One from whom our hope comes.

Please pray for Anthony and Jennifer. And also lift up Glenna, recovering from a shattered shoulder, and Tony’s wife, who needs a miracle for a spot found on her brain.

Yes, the Bible speaks of a preordained time for death (Ecclesiastes 3:2, Job 14:5), yet Scripture also suggests that our choices and prayers matter. Isaiah 57:1–2 tells us the righteous may be taken to avoid future evil. Either way, God’s sovereignty remains. We can trust Him—or fall prey to the agony of
“Woe is me” thinking, which robs our faith.

Romans 8:28 says, “All things work together for the good of those who love Him.” And Genesis 50:20 reminds us of Joseph—betrayed, sold, imprisoned—who ultimately saved a nation. He told his brothers:
“You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good, to accomplish what is now being done,
the saving of many lives.”

Isaiah 38:17 and Jeremiah 29:11 echo God’s involvement and intentions for us, even in hardship. And Ephesians 1:11 assures us that “He works all things according to the counsel of His will.”

“Enough Is Enough… But God Isn’t Done”

I remember when my dad was rushed to the hospital decades ago. On the way, the Lord gave me 2 Kings 20—Hezekiah’s story. He was told he would die, but through fervent prayer and faith, God extended his life 15 more years. I walked into the hospital room and read that passage aloud. God honored that prayer.

Anthony and I talked about that very moment. Hezekiah’s prayer didn’t change God—it aligned Hezekiah with God’s heart. Like the three Hebrew boys in the furnace, his heart was: “Even if He doesn’t, He is still our God!”

Yes, some may think prayer is a slot machine—but it is a holy alignment of our hearts with God’s will.  Isaiah 37:21 says God told Hezekiah

“Because you have prayed to Me…”

That same chapter tells of the night when the angel of the Lord struck down 185,000 Assyrians—God moved because of prayer.

So, is God fickle? Uncertain? Indecisive?
No.
1 Samuel 15:29 is clear:

“He who is the Glory of Israel does not lie or change His mind; for He is not a human being, that He should change His mind.”

Prayer doesn’t move God off course. It moves us into alignment.

2 Chronicles 16:9 says:

“For the eyes of the LORD move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His.”

Hezekiah didn’t change God’s mind—God changed Hezekiah’s.
He set the stage for faith to rise, for trust to grow, and for His power to be displayed.

So we continue in prayer—expectant, not demanding.
Humble, not entitled.
Surrendered, not shaken.

God is not finished.
Not with you.
Not with Anthony.
Not with Glenna
Not with me.

And until the final word is written—we pray.

Lord I am believing that June is the month of my restoration  In  _______________ and _____________ (please name them.) June will be a month of taking back what Satan has stolen, it will be a month of restoration of what the canker worm has eaten and taken away.  Financially, relationally,  we declare June is our month  of restoration of the glory of the lord in our lives, which was scattered.

What we lost will come back in his blessings, and his beauty, and what he has said concerning us.  We pull down every stronghold that has stunted the path of God’s blessings.  Lord, forgive me for being so lukewarm in my battles with the enemy.  Forgive me for not taking Sunday’s high ground before now.  But Lord, today is the day we have drawn a line in the spirit.  No More Satan!  Take your hands off of my life,  In ___________ and __________  I take back the authority you have stolen from me, and I proclaim the victory of Sunday.  Of your promises to bless me, my family, and my health and finances.  When you are with me, Lord, NO ONE can stand against me.

So, Lord, receive the prayers and prophetic words of your scripture that June is our month of taking back the high ground in these areas.  June will be our Sunday of believing your blessings are for us, and your protection is upon us to restore what was stolen.  In Jesus’ Name.
